Global Liveability Index:

  • The Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Global Liveability Index of 140 cities throughout the world has ranked Auckland (New Zealand) first.
  • In 2020 21 New Delhi is placed at 48th position, Mumbai is at 50th place.
  • More than 30 qualitative and quantitative elements are considered in the index, which is divided into five categories: stability (25 percent), healthcare (20 percent), culture and environment (25 percent), education (10 percent), and infrastructure (10 percent) (20 percent ).
  • The EIU included new indicators as a result of the epidemic, such as strain on health-care resources and limits around local athletic events, theatres, music concerts, restaurants, and schools.

Global Innovation Index 2021

  • The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a United Nations specialised body, launched the GII.
  • The Global Innovation Index (GII) strives to represent the multi-dimensional aspects of innovation ranking and rich analysis across 132 economies.
  • It is produced in collaboration with the Portulans Institute and various corporate partners, including the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Colombia’s Ecopetrol, and Turkey’s Exporters Assembly (TIM).
  • India has recently moved two points to 46th place in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021 rankings.
  • Switzerland, Sweden, U.S., and U.K. continue to lead the innovation ranking, and have all ranked in the top 5 in the past three years.

Henley Passport Index 2022

  • The rating is based on unique data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world’s largest and most accurate database of travel information. It was originally designed by Dr. Christian H. Kaelin (chairman of Henley & Partners).
  • In the most powerful passport survey, the ‘Henley Passport Index 2022,’ India was rated 83rd.
  • India’s passport power has risen seven positions from 90th place last year in this quarter compared to 2021.
  • For the first quarter of 2022, the current rankings are in effect.

World Press Freedom Index

Corruption Perception Index 2021

  • Transparency International has released the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2021.
  • Overall, the CPI shows that in 86 percent of countries, corruption control has remained static or worsened over the last decade.
  • According to experts and businesses, the Index rates 180 nations and territories based on their perceived levels of public sector corruption.
  • It employs a scale of zero to 100, with zero indicating very corrupt data and 100 indicating very clean data.
  • More than two-thirds of countries (68 percent) have a score of less than 50, while the world average remains at 43. Since 2012, 25 countries have had major improvements in their scores, while 23 countries have seen significant declines.
  • In the current index, India is rated 85th out of 180 countries (86 in 2020 and 80 in 2019). India has a CPI score of 40 from Transparency International.
  • All of India’s neighbours are ranked lower than it, with the exception of Bhutan. Pakistan fell 16 places in the index to 140th place.

Children’s Climate Risk Index

  • Fridays for Future in conjunction with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
  • ‘The Climate Crisis Is a Child Rights Crisis: Introducing the Children’s Climate Risk Index,’ according to the report.
  • It is the first thorough study of climate risk from the perspective of a youngster.
  • It assigns a ranking to countries based on their children’s exposure to climate and environmental shocks, such as cyclones and heat waves, as well as their sensitivity to those shocks, based on their availability to vital services.
  • Pakistan (14th), Bangladesh (15th), Afghanistan (25th), and India (26th) are four South Asian countries where children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
